In most yoga styles/poses there is a strong emphasis on external rotation, primarily in the legs but also in the arms as well. This is because yoga’s roots were to develop bodies that could sit in Lotus, where an extreme external rotation in the legs and hips are needed. This creates somewhat of a systemic unbalance.
This reminds me of relationships. When relations don’t feel good it is usually because of an imbalance – someone or something is doing more of less of than the other. In your practice feel the internal rotation that happens in the poses, and how this keeps you balanced. Start to notice when part or movement of the body is pulling their weight more than the other.
