Feeling Strength & Intensity| Arm Balance Sequence // Peak Pose: Eka Pada Bakasana w/ Block

Intent:

Moments of intensity…the two usual responses are either flight or fight.

When we are in flight mode we move away from intensity. In a yoga practice this can look like giving up, leaving the pose or not even trying to begin with.

When we are in fight mode we do just that- fight. We go into battle.  Fight mode in yoga looks like forcing and feels like struggle.

Intensity requires a middle path where you choose your battle intelligently. Can you consciously try while always being mindful that you are doing so without responding to intensity by forcing through pain or waving the white flag and giving up?

When you meet intensity in your practice, do these three things:

  1. Take a deep breath.
  2. Ask yourself, is this pain or intensity?
  3. Make a conscious decision about whether to stay with the intensity or move away from it.  Ask yourself, what part of this pose can I do?  Chose your battle wisely.
